It’s a phenomena called Forward Head Placement or FHP, and research is showing it is a huge problem.
Believe it or not, all of these symptoms can be related to where your head is!
That is, how it sits on top of your shoulders. (Or doesn’t).
How do we fix it?
1 - Awareness. Becoming more aware of how you stand and hold your body in space. I will help you increase that awareness and be conscious of your alignment.
2 - Release. Certain muscles and the fascia around them have adapted to our posture and positions in ways that have caused them to get short and tight. We use myofascial release, stretching exercises and neuromuscular activation techniques to improve the range of motion in these muscles.
3 - Mobilize. The joints of the neck and shoulders can also lose some of their mobility due to those tight muscles. We will work on the joints to increase their range of motion and help them guide more effortlessly.
4 - Strengthen. Certain muscles have “checked out” and taken a back seat to the tight ones we mentioned above. We need a delicate muscle balance. Not too tight, not too weak. So we have to work with some of those weak ones to get them back to their job.
