Levator Scapulae Stretch

The levator scapulae is a muscle in the back of the neck. It originates from the transverse processes of the first 4 cervical vertebrae and inserts on to the top of the scapulae, or shoulder blade, near the spine.

It's job is just like it sounds, it elevates the scapulae (levator/ elevator). It also helps the shoulder glide in the socket by rotating the scapulae downward.

This muscle tends to be overstretched when the head is in a forward alignment. This can cause headaches.
